She has spearheaded the opening of ACT (Advocacy Centre for Children Thailand) House in Chiang Mai, the first such centre in Southeast Asia. ACT also has branches in Pattaya and Phuket and plans are underway to open a centre in Bangkok. Wirawan received the award seven years ago. Wirawan thinks that the award can help Thailand improve its efforts to tackle human trafficking.
